‘The Bear’ Will Shut Down Service After Season 5

FX’s hit series The Bear is coming to an end.

Deadline reports the Chicago-based drama will be ending with Season 5, which is set to air later this year.

This news comes weeks after Jamie Lee Curtis first announced the news on Instagram in a photo with her co-star, Abby Elliott, who plays her on-screen daughter.

“FINISHED STRONG!” Curtis wrote on social media Feb. 17. “Surrounded by an extraordinary crew and group of writers and producers and scene partners on the show that Chris Storer created, completing the story of this extraordinary family that we have all fallen in love with. Got to finish it out with my baby Berzatto bear.”

Curtis later confirmed the news again to Entertainment Tonight. “It is the end of the show,” she said. “Everybody knows it’s the end of the show.”

The actress, who plays Donna, the troubled mother to Jeremy Allen White‘s Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, claimed it was common knowledge that the show would be ending so soon.

“I’m not breaking any news to anybody. It’s the end of the show. They’ve said it from the beginning. It’s the end of the show, it’s not me announcing any endings of anything,” she maintained.

The Bear, which debuted in 2022, was renewed for Season 5 in July. The new season is slated to premiere on Hulu later this year.

After kicking The Bear into gear in Season 3, Season 4 showed Carmy and his team fighting to pull the restaurant from the edge after learning they only have two months to turn things around in order to keep the doors open. But the season ended on a shocking note that left the fate of the restaurant in the balance: Carmy quits the restaurant, leaving it in the hands of his sister Natalie (Elliott), Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach).

Liza Colón-Zayas, Lionel Boyce, Matty Matheson and Molly Gordon also star.

The Bear is a critically acclaimed series, earning 21 Emmys and five Golden Globe Awards so far.
